Finding love in Japan

This is a true story about me. A story about how an American guy in Japan fell for a Chinese gal in Australia, and the beautiful result of our two worlds colliding.

At the end of last year, I took a chance. I was stressed, unimpressed and tired of my routine. I’d just finished my masters degree. I’d just moved house into a new environment. So I took a chance at finding love. I flew to a small town south of Hiroshima, Japan to meet a guy I had met in Melbourne. We had spent a whirlwind short time with each other in a Melbourne, and realised that we had a strong connection. I took the leap and there in the small town of Iwakuni, in a Japan, I found everything I wanted and more – plus I got to explore Japan for a second time around. I’m a lucky gal 🙂

2017 is a year of chances. A year of love. A year of learning. Hopefully, you might read this and take a chance on love too. I promise it’s worth it.

Japan I’ll be back in July, can’t wait to explore more of your beauty and charm with my love and my friends by my side 💘

BIKER JACKET

A well-fitting, good quality biker jacket is a trans-seasonal must have in my fashion books. It’s classy and timeless, yet edgy and fashion-forward. It can be worn in so many different ways, whether you have a more feminine style or you like to look grungy, or you’re into street wear. It suits almost every style I’d say.

For those who are ethically conscious, there are plenty of pleather and leather alternatives out there. I for one don’t buy real leather jackets – a) I prefer to know an animal wasn’t harmed for my outfit and b) there’s no way I would ever be able to afford it anyway 😛

Here is a little style board I put together to show you just how cool biker jackets are.

I bought one from Sportsgirl recently and it has been on high rotation ever since.

What do you guys think of the whole biker jacket trend?

Happy weekend lovelies!

EUROTRIP I

Still coming to terms with the fact that I’m back in freezing Melbourne after spending a glorious month in European summer. Thought I’d post up some snaps since it’s been forever since I posted anything on this ol’ blog. Enjoy!

Buckingham palace, Notting Hill, graffiti in Paris, outfit matching with Hannah in Leeds, Luxembourg Gardens (Paris), The Louvre.

Oxford St, classic telephone box, gorgeous flowers, Musee D’Orsay, Monterosso beach, vegan feed @ Max Pett (Munich), selfie with my awesome travel buddy Lauren ❤

I hope to have some new content up, but for now enjoy my Euro-spam pls.

L’America t-shirt // ASOS jeans // Atmos&here boots via The Iconic

Didn’t feel like showing my face too much in this post – I’d had a fairly average night before and had a bit of a tough morning so it’s probably better that way! Snapped these pics down a cute street in Alexandria, Sydney with Mel from athletic/aesthetic on a grey day. We managed to get some decent shots, and I had a chance to practise my active wear photoshoot skills too!

I’m really feeling the monochrome black+white theme lately – I’m a bit over the crazy colourful Gormanesque type stuff for now, especially after the whole debacle about Gorman’s ethical standards etc etc.

Guess that makes me a pretty damn good Melbournian right?!

Have a great weekend everyone 🙂

ANNA QUAN – HIBERNUS

Anna Quan’s new collection lookbook is a dreamy delight for the eyes. Shot in front of a textured rocky backdrop, this collection features relaxed, flowing silhouettes in subtle grey and white, camel and eggshell blue. The delicate combination of wool, linen silk looks absolutely luxurious.

I’m a big fan of the flared sleeves and relaxed, oversized hemlines. These pieces will be perfect for that Autumn transitional period between Melbourne’s warm sunny afternoons and those bitter chill mornings.

Hooray for Aussie designers kicking goals!

YES, PANCAKES CAN BE HEALTHY!

So, anyone who knows me knows that I have a terrible sweet tooth. My weaknesses include cookies, ice-cream, lollies, Nutella, any dessert with peanut butter, frozen yogurt, chocolate and of course, PANCAKES.

Of course, traditional pancakes are basically lots of sugar and not much else… so I have searched far and wide and experimented with different so-called ‘healthy’ pancake recipes. I’m gonna share my favourite version with you guys 🙂

Not only do these guys look very photogenic, but they are dairy free, dairy free and have no added sugar besides what’s in the fruit naturally.

I have made these into berry pancakes by adding frozen raspberries into the mix for half of the pancake batter, but feel free to customise them to suit your tastes. You can try other fruits like blueberries or apples, or even add some cacao to make them chocolatey. The possibilities are actually endless.

So get out your frying pan and make a big batch of these, guilt free. Check out the super simple recipe below!

GUILT-FREE OATY BANANA PANCAKES

Ingredients:

1 large ripe banana
2 eggs
2 handfuls of rolled oats
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Splash of nut milk (I use almond or you can use water if you want)
Berries, banana, peanut butter, yogurt, granola…
(whatever you wanna decorate with!)

Steps:

1. Blend the oats until they become a fine flour-like consistency.
2. Mash banana and whisk egg and mix with the oat flour. Add the nut milk slowly and mix in until you get a pancake batter consistency which is runny but still thick. I usually end up adding about half a cup I think.
3. Heat your pan up, low-medium heat is best, and grease with oil of your choice (mine is usually rice bran oil or coconut oil).
4. Pour small amounts of batter on the pan in a round shape. Cook ’til you see little bubbles then flip em.
5. Decorate with whatever yummy things you like. I love peanut butter and berries with mine!

GARDEN BED
